What's the weirdest excuse you've come up with for being late?

Running A Little Late is a short performance & film playing twists and turns with the digitally falsified perception of liveness and witnessing. The viewers follow the artist/character's faux live stream of her hurried journey from the train station to the theatre stage as she is "late for her performance", which quickly unfolds itself into comically artificial urban realities.

Granulated site-specific footage and recursive text-to-image AI jointly re-envision the hidden layers of the streets around the venue, interwoven into a mixed reality montage. The recursive text-to-image AI allows for generative daydreams without limits of repetition or timeframe, resembling a free-wandering train of thought. It is in the site-specifc nature of the film to be remade each time according to the venue of display.

The work intends to imagine the future of live art, cinema, and the medium of witness in response to the emergence of AI and media technologies. With absurdity and humour, it encourages questions on the digital formats, the patterns, the routines – the invisible track-systems in our digit-saturated reality. Everything “running late” journey becomes a crevice through the mundane.
